چکیده
Spending on hospital services has historically been one of the largest shares of total health care expenditures for the majority of countries in Europe and the developed world.1 According to the OECD, hospital spending on average accounted for approximately onethird of total current expenditure on health care in European OECD countries in 2008, ranging from 26.7% in Slovakia to 46.9% in Sweden (See Table 1). In some countries in the WHO European region, particularly in CIS countries, inpatient expenditures as a share of total health care expenditures has at times been over 70%.2 As hospitals continue to consume a considerable share of health care resources, policymakers have looked to new payment strategies to ensure that care is delivered efficiently. Hospital financiers are faced with the difficult task of designing systems aligning patient needs and provider incentives in order to obtain the best possible value for money.

A substantial rise in prevalence of antibodies at protective titres, from 3.2% to 44.9%, was observed between August 2009 and January 2010. The highe...
متن کاملHigher all-cause mortality in children during autumn 2009 compared with the three previous years: pooled results from eight European countries.
The paper describes weekly fluctuations of all-cause mortality observed in eight European countries during the period between week 27 and 51, 2009, in comparison with three previous years. Our preliminary data show that the mortality reported during the 2009 influenza pandemic did not reach levels normally seen during seasonal influenza epidemics. However, there was a cumulative excess mortalit...
متن کاملEpidemic of Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in Denmark, 2010 and 2011.
Denmark experienced two waves of Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection during autumn and early winter in 2010 and 2011, respectively. Both affected the whole country. The proportion of positive results was almost the same for both, indicating that the two waves were probably of equal size. High macrolide consumption during the epidemics did not seem to affect levels of macrolide resistance in M. pneu...
